About the Trio
The Poulenc Trio
The Poulenc Trio, comprised of pianist Irina Kaplan, oboist Vladimir Lande and bassoonist Bryan Young, now in its seventh season, is the most active touring piano-wind chamber music ensemble in the world.
The Trio’s mission is to present thrilling and delightful performances, while expanding audiences for world-class live chamber music. We achieve our goal by touring extensively throughout the U.S. and around the world, through constant outreach to young and under-served listeners, and through a strong commitment to commissioning, performing and recording new works from living composers.
In a recent review, the Washington Post said the trio “does its namesake proud” in “an intriguing and beautifully played program” with “convincing elegance, near effortless lightness and grace.” …

Featured
Since its founding, the Trio has commissioned over 20 new works with oboe, bassoon and piano, including two triple concerti with orchestra. A key part of our mission is to expand the repertoire while exploring new ideas in music.
The Trio offers several educational programs, including master classes for conservatory-level students; and Poulenc and Snacks, an informal demonstration series for younger audiences.
The Poulenc Trio is engaged in several special projects, including Music at the Museum, a musical partnership with the world’s leading museums; Diaspora, a multi-year, multi-disciplinary effort to discover and commission works from non-traditional sources.
Music at the Museum
After a hiatus of several years, the Poulenc Trio returns for concerts at the Walters Art Museum in Baltimore.
Diaspora Project
Our Diaspora commissioning and collaboration project focuses on the music and lives of people far from home.
Festivals
The Poulenc Trio are featured artists at the 2010 Chamber Music Festival in San Miguel de Allende Mexico.
Live on Stage Tour
The Trio performs as part of the Live on Stage 2010 Conference at Vanderbilt University, Nashville, in advance of our LOS National Tour in 2012.
