Now in its second season, this wildly popular series integrates chamber music, celebrity speakers and guest artists to forge new connections between music and art.
Newly expanded for 2006-07, Poulenc Trio Presents represents a unique partnership between the Poulenc Trio and the Walters, and is set in the beautiful galleries of Baltimore's renowned Walters Art Museum.
Each concert of the first season sold out weeks in advance. For the 2006-07 season, extra concerts have been added.

The Poulenc Trio kicks off its season at The Cosmos Club, a private social club established in Washington, D.C, in 1878. A rousing program will contribute mightily to the club's objectives: the advancement of its members in science, literature, and art, and their mutual improvement by social intercourse. The Trio is also looking forward to the refreshments.

Chicks and ducks and geese better scurry, because Poulenc Trio is coming to Tulsa with their fringe on top! (Our sincere apologies to both Rodgers and Hammerstein.) The Trio will perform two completely different programs, including the American premiere of Gaetano Panariello's Suite Filastroccosa, written especially for their recent appearance at the Ravello festival in Italy.

By 1850, Gustave Courbet's realist masterpiece, Burial at Ornans, was said by the painter to represent 'the burial of Romanticism.' It seems however, that no one told his musical contemporaries! To commemorate Shostakovich's anniversary in 2006, the Poulenc Trio commissioned composer Lorenzo Ferrero to write a triple concerto in tribute. The Poulenc Trio will perform with the COSMIC Chamber Orchestra, with Trio oboist Vladimir Lande also conducting. Don't miss this incredibly unique event!

Deck the halls and join the Poulenc Trio for a delightful evening of winter-inspired music. This concert will celebrate Member Appreciation Week at the Walters, will feature music by Bach and winter-themed art songs for soprano, piano and winds. Soprano Hyunah Yu will also be joined by pianist and Peabody prepartory faculty member Hyun Sook Park. Yu, who ihas been praised by the New York Times as "the most impressive of vocal soloists," is one of the operatic world's fastest rising stars. Yu was recently featured at Lincoln Center's Mostly Mozart Festival, singing the title role in Peter Sellars' production of Mozart's Zaide, and she will release her debut recording on the EMI label in January.

The Fairmont Chamber Music Society presents the finest classical chamber music featuring national and international artists. As part of its innovative new museum exchange program, The Poulenc Trio comes to the National Gallery of Art. Concerts at the National Gallery are open to the public, free of charge. Think you’ve heard Peter and the Wolf? Think again! The Poulenc Trio celebrates the Walters exhibition of Barye’s animals with WBJC-FM program director Jonathan Palevsky narrating a wittily updated take on Prokofiev’s Peter and the Wolf. The program, which includes Poulenc’s Sextet for Piano and Winds, will also feature musicians from the National Gallery Chamber Players, marking the first of a series of musical exchanges between the Walters and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. Visit the exhibition Untamed: The Art of Antoine-Louis Barye following the concert.
